Watercolored Thank You

Hi, Rachel here with another card using the gorgeous Splendid Roses stamp set! (If you can't tell, it's one of my very favorites!)

I recently just went through a huge move and it totally sapped all my creativity. To get back into the swing of things, I decided to do a little simple watercoloring to get those creative juices flowing. Fortunately for me, this image makes any coloring look amazing!

I started my card by cutting a panel using a stitched edge die and then I used my MISTI to stamp my image in the upper left corner in Versamark ink. I heat embossed it in some Copper embossing powder. It's not my usual choice, but I wanted to use some vintage colors and I thought it would work really well. Next, I lined up my sentiment and stamped it in Versamark and heat embossed in the same Copper powder.

I used three different yellows on my roses to get the shading and dimension that I wanted. I started with my lightest color and then added my darkest to the places I thought would be the most shadowed. I used my medium tone to smooth out the transition from light to dark. I used two shades of green on my leaves and started with the darkest and then used my lighter shade to transition from the shadowed portion to the tips of the leaves. When I was done with the image, I used some Pumice Stone ink to create a shadow around the whole image.

I finished the card by adhering the panel to a white card base with some double sided tape (helps to keep in place even if the panel is a little warped from the water). I then added just a sprinkling of some Mocha Vanilla Latte sequins.

Thanks for stopping by!

I have had my Faber-Castell Polochromos pencils for quite a while now, I do believe they were part of my wedding anniversary present last year.. in July... so yeah, they have been around for a while but I've felt too intimidated to try them out. Nuts or what?? Well, for today's card I decided to be brave and just get on with it. And wow. Now I can't believe I waited to long to try them! I decided to use black card stock and gold glitter heat embossing for my card and the colours practically glow!! It's so cool!
Right, I'm skipping ahead a little bit here, let's go back to the beginning. I have used the Kindness Medley stamp set which I stamped with VersaMark on smooth black ca…
